Grades are posted for Test Three. Most of the scores were disappointing. Approved solutions are posted.
It's time for many of you to formulate a recovery plan to succeed in this course. None of you have fallen off the cliff yet, but some are nearing the edge. Let's figure this out.
There are a substantial number of points left before the final exam in this course, and it's important you get all you can. I want to believe in you; give me a reason to believe.
Writing Assignment, due 23 Apr: "The Three Most Important Things I Learned in MATH 124." A page and a half, single-spaced, typed. As always, spelling, grammar, clarity, and creativity all count.
Offline HW Five is due 30 Apr. Probably not a bad idea to get 17 correct.
The final check of your MyMathLab homework will be 01 May. I will award half the homework points then. If you are behind, now is a good time to catch up.
Portfolios are due 02 May. Instructions are posted. If you want to see what other students have done for this assignment, stop by my office.
Your final exams will be Monday or Wednesday of finals week. NOW is the time to prepare. None of you are out of the game, but most of you need a strong finish. Every kind of problem that is on the exam is listed on the study guide. Preparation predicts performance.
Good Deal for MATH 124 Students: The Math Tutor Clinic is open every weekday in CDC 7. We have excellent tutors, committed to helping you master your math available 0900-1700 on Monday, Thursday, and Friday, and 0900-2000 Tuesday and Wednesday. The enterprise is funded by student fees; there is no additional cost to you. Many of my former students told me that their time in the tutor clinic was the key to success. For more information, check here.
Did I mention I have office hours 1300-1400 daily Monday-Thursday, and I LOVE it when students stop by to talk about math?
I've found quite a few people who know about how to succeed in a math class, and were ambitious enough to write it down. Some of them talk about "calculus," but if you substitute "math" it works just the same. You can find them here.
Do math every day.
